In a celebration of the spirit of unity that the Holy Month of Ramadan encourages, du invited 25 children from the Thalassemia Centre in Dubai to join its staff for a fun-filled Iftar experience.

The children joined du’s staff at Al Majlis in Madinat Jumeirah, where they were treated to drawing, painting and cupcake decorating activities, organised by du’s own Masar Graduate Trainees and volunteers from Think Up GCC.

To raise internal awareness of the consequences of living with Thalassemia, Dr Essam, a genetic blood disease specialist from the Thalassemia Centre, hosted a panel with two Thalassemia patients, Saeed and Dina. Members of du’s staff were encouraged to ask questions to find out more about the disease, which impacts an estimated one in every 12 Emiratis.

Hala Badri, Executive Vice President, Brand and Communications, du, said: “The Holy Month of Ramadan is a time for us to embrace our traditions and to enrich the lives of those around us. This is the first time that we have hosted children from the Thalassemia Centre at our annual Iftar, and it has been a pleasure to enjoy the evening with them. I would like to thank the team of Think Up GCC for all the support they have extended to us during our Ramadan activities, our Graduate Trainees, and Dr Essam for making this an incredibly memorable, entertaining and educational event for everyone.”
