The following tips will help you get ready for your trip with our Roaming services.
When you’re preparing for your trip:- SMS roaming to 5102 to check if your line is activated with roaming services.
- If you are planning to buy a roaming bundle make sure to check our preferred partners in the country you’re travelling to.
- You need to have a 3G/4G/5G phone to use your roaming data bundles abroad.
- Make sure the Data Roaming option is enabled on your phone. Simply go to Settings -> Data Roaming and switch on Data Roaming.
- Set up a PIN for your phone and SIM, in case they are lost or stolen.

While traveling:
- We recommend you restart your phone when you land.
- Your phone will automatically connect to one of the local networks. If it doesn't, you can manually search for the network on your phone’s settings and connect to the desired network.
- You’ll receive a welcome message from us as soon as you switch on your phone in the visited country.
- You can check your data balance on our du app or mydata.du.ae
- We’ll notify you with SMSs once you’ve used up 70%, 80% and 100% of your bundle.
- In case your phone is lost or stolen, report it by calling us immediately on +971555678155 so we can suspend your line for 5 days to prevent the misusage of your line.

General usage tips:

When calling back to the UAE, replace the first 0 with +971.
To dial +, hold down 0 until the plus symbol (+) appears. - Replace the 0 with the code of the visited country when calling numbers within the visited country.
- Make sure you check the emergency numbers of the visited country before your trip, you won't need to dial a special area code before the emergency number.
- On your journey, you can always top up your prepaid line on our du app or Quick Recharge. You can also pay your bills on our du app or by using the Quick Pay option on our website.
- You can make voice and video calls over internet applications with our roaming data bundles.
- To access your voicemail, dial +971555678161 (the charges are equal to making a call back to the UAE).

Manage your data wisely:
- Be aware of any activity that may use large amounts of data such as, automatic software updates and email notifications.
- Turn off the Location service when it’s not needed, because it might use up your data.

Roaming Services FAQs

What do I need to do to use my phone while travelling?You will need to activate the international Roaming service. To check the status of your roaming services on your du Postpaid line, simply SMS ‘Roaming’ to 5102.
In case your Roaming service is inactive, please visit the du App to activate it or SMS ‘IR’ to 5102. -
How do I use the Roaming data allowance I have, within my Power plan?To use your Roaming data allowance within the Power plan, you need to make sure that the international Roaming service on your Postpaid line is activated (please see above). The data will be available for you to enjoy during your time abroad.
In case you use all the Roaming data during your trip, you can always purchase a data bundle to stay connected.

Why can’t I access the Data Portal or the du App when abroad?
Make sure that your Wi-Fi is turned off and your Roaming data option is turned on. Try disabling all your apps to avoid automatic background updates. If you still can’t access mydata.du.ae or the du App, clear the cache or history on your mobile. Follow the steps below:
iPhone: Go to Settings - Safari settings - scroll down to ‘Clear History and Web Site Data’.
Once that’s done, reopen your Safari browser.
Android: Go to Browser - Settings - Privacy - Delete personal data (find the cache and cookies that need to be deleted).
Once that’s done, open a new browser.
If the page on mydata.du.ae still doesn’t work, follow the steps below:
iPhone: Go to Settings - Safari settings - Block cookies - select ‘Never’
Android: Go to Settings - Content settings – Advanced - select ‘Accept cookies’
If it still doesn’t work, contact us or email us at customer.care@du.ae with the country you’re visiting and the operator network you are on.

What are Roaming bundles?Roaming bundles are bundles that can be used in foreign networks when travelling abroad so that you can stay connected with ease no matter where you are. We are offering a selection of data or voice and data-only bundles with different validity, from daily bundles to bundles with 365 days of validity. For longer validity bundles, your bundle will remain active on your line, and you will be able to use it whenever you travel within the validity period of the bundle.

How can I buy the Roaming data bundles?You can buy the Roaming bundles through:
- du App
- SMS keyword to 5102
You can activate up to 5 Roaming bundles at the same time, depending on your needs.

Can I purchase a bundle before travelling?You can purchase roaming data-only bundles anytime, but the bundle will only be activated during your travel. You can purchase the bundle up to 60 days before you travel.
For the voice and data bundles, the bundles will be activated immediately at the time of purchase.

Will my Roaming bundles auto-renew upon expiry if I am still abroad?No, all our Roaming bundles are one-off bundles, except for the ‘daily auto-renewal’ bundle.
Once the one-off bundles expire, you will have to purchase another bundle to keep using Roaming data.
The ‘daily auto-renewable’ Roaming bundle gives you 500MB of Roaming data that automatically renews every 24 hours – only when you’re on roaming. The bundle will not renew if you finish all your 500MB data within a day, it will only renew on the next day.
To deactivate the ‘daily auto-renewal’ bundle, SMS ‘D Stop’ to 5102. -
I bought the daily auto-renewable bundle and travelled for three days. Do I need to deactivate it when I come back?The daily auto-renewable bundle will remain active on your line, but you’ll only be charged the next time you travel, and you use it abroad.
If you do not wish for the bundle to auto-activate during your next travels, you need to deactivate it – simply SMS "D stop" to 5102. -
Can I use data while roaming, even if I don’t have an active bundle?If you have not purchased a bundle with Roaming data or you do not have any Roaming data allowance within your Power plan, data usage is blocked. This is to protect you from any unwanted expenses while travelling.

My Roaming bundle isn’t working, what should I do?
- Restart your phone.
- Check if you have an active bundle on the du App.

If I’m in a non-preferred country, will my bundle work?No, the bundles will not work in a non-preferred country.

Will I be charged after I finish my Roaming bundle data allowance?Rest assured that you’re protected after you finish your Roaming bundle, and you won’t be charged for any out-of-bundle fees. If you run out of data, you can purchase another Roaming data bundle to stay connected during your travels.

If I purchase the yearly bundle and consume the full 50GB before the end of the year, can I buy another bundle?Yes, we love to keep you connected and provide you with the best experience possible.
You’ll be able to buy another bundle if you consume all your 50GB of the Roaming data bundle before the end of the year.

VOIP while Roaming FAQs

What’s the new feature on the Roaming data bundles?When buying a Roaming data bundle, you can use all internet calling applications available in the country you’re visiting. These include WhatsApp calls, BOTIM, Skype, Snapchat calls, Facebook Messenger, Viber, WeChat, Tango, House Party, IMO and others. You will not be charged extra for using VOIP apps.

I am having an issue with using a certain application (e.g. WhatsApp calling), and I have already purchased Roaming bundles.Please ensure that the VoIP call is made using a Roaming mobile data connection, and that the mobile data is turned on.
If it doesn’t work, this could be a temporary interruption from the application (e.g. it also could be an issue from the WhatsApp network), please try to use any other internet calling application.
You can also make sure of the following:
- Make sure you activate your Roaming Data bundle.
- Restart your phone or reset your network selection.
- Make sure you turn on your cellular data and disconnect from your Wi-Fi.
