du, the new telecom operator in the UAE, has announced that its ‘055 MYNumber' and ‘Retain My Number' campaigns are approaching their final countdown. Those who have booked numbers during these two campaigns have only 8 days - until 31 May 2007 - to confirm and complete their purchase. All customers who were allocated a du number before 5 Feb, 2007 as well as customers who would still like to retain their existing mobile number (if available), have to do so by purchasing a du line with that number within 8 days i.e. on or before 31 May, 2007.
Further, for Pay as you Go customers who have been allocated a du number between 26 November 2006 and 5 Feb 2007 and have purchased their du line, they need to make the first call by 12 midnight on 31 May, 2007 to avail of the ‘thank you' offer. Customers can purchase a du line with their preferred number at any of the 11 du shops and over 120 dealer outlets (Axiom, Jumbo, Emirates Computers, Global Link, Eros, Jacky's & Plug-ins) across the UAE. du has also set up two additional temporary kiosks to meet the increased demand that will be generated over these 8 days.
The kiosks are located in the Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi and the Al Ain Mall in Al Ain. Customers need to carry with them their existing mobile number along with the Number Booking pass code (if already allocated a du number), and the required documents as per their package choice of Pay as you Go (pre paid) or Monthly Plan (post paid). Customers who could not book their du number, or have not completed their booking successfully during the first phase of the Number Booking campaign have until 31 May to retain their existing mobile number with a 055 prefix, if available.
All a customer has to do, is go to any of the du shops or premium dealers with their existing mobile number, receive a pass code on that mobile number and collect the du line with the same number instantly. A nominal fee of AED100 is charged for retaining the current mobile number with a 055 prefix.
Osman Sultan, Chief Executive Officer of du, said: "We would like to thank all our customers for the confidence they have placed in du. The Number Booking Campaign was created in response to the demand for du numbers, in order to provide the most convenient method for customers. However, due to various reasons, some customers did not book their numbers and requested an extension of the campaign.
The second phase has also been extremely successful and as it draws to an end, I would urge all those who have booked their number but not confirmed it as yet, to do so before the campaign ends. We do not want anyone to be disappointed and this is our way of ensuring they won't." Differences between the 2 phases of the Number Booking campaign are illustrated in the table below, which also indicates the different offers and processes for each.
