Dubai: 30 January, 2008: In its continuous effort to bring in the best of quality music and entertainment, du the UAE’s new telecom operator presents Amr Diab, live in concert. The legendary Arabic singing sensation will perform on 1 February at Zabeel Park (Megabowl area), in Dubai.

 

To mark this memorable occasion, du has tied up with four radio stations Al Rabia, Al Arabia, Emaraat FM and UAQ 97.8 to run a competition in which all the winners will be getting two free tickets each to the show. In addition three lucky winners will get to meet Amr Diab in person.

Born in 1961, Amr Diab is the only Arabic singer who has won the World Music Awards in Monte Carlo for three times in a row. He is best known for his studio albums and songs such as ‘Nour El Ein’. ‘Lily Nahari’, ‘Wala Ala Balo’ as well as his many Franco Arabic collborations. In 1983, Amr Diab released his first studio album ‘Ya Tareeq’. It wasn’t until 1988, when Amr releases ‘Mayaal’ that he achieved stardom around the world. The song ‘Mayaal’ garnered huge success all around the Middle East, and to this day it's known as one of Amr's best, and most successful songs ever. Diab's 1996 album, ’Nour El Ein’ took him a further step forward, with the song ‘Habiby’ becoming a phenomenal hit worldwide.

 

Doors at Zabeel Park will open at 6:00 p.m. to the public. The concert will start at 9:00 p.m.

 

du has presented well-known stage concerts of artistes such as Justin Timberlake, Elton John and recently the ‘Salaam India’ concert with well-known Indian playback and classical singers singers Asha Bhonsle, Dr. K.J Yesudas and S.P Balasubramaniam.
