The assessment ranks du as above-average for 2017 applicants

du’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and community outreach has been recognized by the Dubai Chamber with a high score on their CSR Label, a standardized assessment of a company’s approach to CSR and sustainability. The CSR Label has been designed to provide a diagnostic framework, as well as a learning and development tool that helps companies define and improve their CSR strategy, policies, and management practices. du received a CSR Label score above the average for 2017 applicants.

“At du, we have always made it a point to demonstrate our belief in supporting the communities in which we operate, and where our employees live and work, through CSR practices such as environmental sustainability that align with our values and help us achieve our vision for a healthier, happier future in the UAE,” said Abdulwahed Juma, Executive Vice President, Brand and Corporate Communications, du. “We are committed at all times to conducting our business in an ethical, responsible, and sustainable manner; and we take immense pride in being recognized for our efforts in these areas with an outstanding CSR Label score from the Dubai Chamber.”

Assessments for the CSR Label are made across four impact areas, including Workplace, Marketplace, Community, and Environment, which collectively produce the final score. This year’s CSR Label scores have been released just as du has published its latest Sustainability Report, which covers the company’s sustainability performance in 2017 across these impact areas and more. 2017 saw du launch a refreshed sustainability strategy, aligning around three core pillars - delivering ICT benefits to everyone, making everyone happier, operating ethically and responsibly – whilst maintaining focus on building towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals of most relevance to the ICT solutions provider.

Key highlights of du’s 2017 Sustainability Report include the company receiving its highest Gallup Employee Engagement score to date; contributing more than 10,000 volunteer hours towards community development through company projects and initiatives; reducing diesel consumption in company operations by almost 1 million liters compared to 2016; and reducing paper consumption by approximately 60% in the last two years, to name just a few.
