Dubai, 5 July 2011: Reaffirming its commitment in delivering comprehensive and state-of-the-art telecom technology, du recently connected the world’s current highest residential tower, The Torch Dubai Marina, with its highly advanced telecom services to what is deemed as the tallest completed residential skyscraper situated in the Dubai Marina, in Dubai, UAE.

The Torch Dubai Marina, the current high-rise residential building in the world (surpassing Q1 in Gold Coast, Australia), was connected within an impressive span of 135 hours only. The tower, which boasts 84 floors (above ground) and 687 apartments, stands tall at an incredible 345metres (1132feet) in height, which utilised 1,346 metres of optical fibre cables.

The multi-storey building, that is covered with du’s enhanced home services portfolio comprising of fixed telephony; du TV; du TVplus and Internet, provides residents with seamless connectivity and capabilities for an enhanced user experience. This move reiterates du’s stance in expanding its network across major landmarks in the UAE. As a result, The Torch residents and their visitors will benefit from du’s pioneering fibre-to-the-home technology.
