El Sheikh will have overall responsibility for ensuring availability, achieving cost efficiencies and driving quality in sourcing materials and services for du. He will work to optimise supply chain management in line with customer service goals of the organisation.
 
The appointment of El Sheikh, who has extensive senior management experience, is in line with the new telecom operator’s policy of seeking the best talent from the local market and reflects du’s aggressive national development programme. “Rashid El Sheikh’s extensive experience in managing quality and cost-efficiency in high-volume procurement operations makes him an invaluable member of the du team,” said Ahmad Bin Byat, Chairman of du.

El Sheikh will provide the leadership and effective management that will help to ensure we deliver on our promise.” Prior to joining du, El Sheikh served as Director of Procurements and Contracts for TECOM Investments. He set up TECOM’s procurement department from scratch, managing an annual volume of AED 320 million.
 
His work in standardising policies and processes contributed to TECOM’s achievement of the ISO 9000: 2001 certification.
 
Before joining TECOM, El Sheikh was Audit Manager at the Dubai Ruler’s Court where he worked on reviewing and auditing financial statements of government sectors, investigating frauds and evaluating performance. “I am delighted to be able to join the du team and look forward to contributing to du’s vision for excellence,” said El Sheikh. “du represents the future of telecommunications in the UAE and I am thrilled to be part of it.” El Sheikh has a Masters in Professional Accounting and a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami.
