Dubai, 16 October 2008: Ending four weeks of anticipation, du, the integrated telecom operator in the UAE has announced Abdul Rahman Abdul Aziz Behlim, an Indian national as the winner of the grand prize of the SMS Ramadan Challenge. He wins a voucher worth AED 50,000 for a luxury vacation for two people to any destination of his choice from Al Tayer Travel Agency. The voucher includes both travel and accommodation.

 

Twenty-five year old Indian Abdul Rahman Abdul Aziz Behlim, whose family have been UAE residents for over 30 years, said: “I am delighted to win this competition. I will gift this voucher to my parents so that they can go on a nice vacation. The competition was really exciting, and full of information on Ramadan, Arabic language and the UAE. I am thankful to du for offering me this wonderful opportunity to participate and win. I really believe that du helps customers talk more with features like Pay by the Second and look forward to other innovative services that they will introduce in the future.”

du also announced the names of the winners of the fourth week of the du SMS Ramadan Challenge. For the week ending 29 September the top scorer won free du talk-time worth AED 5,500 while 55 other winners each received free talk-time worth AED 550. All the winners in the fourth week of the competition were du pre-paid customers. Fifty two participants preferred to respond in English while four gave their responses in Arabic.

 

One of the winners of the fourth week of the Quiz, Waddah Mohammad Awadd, from Sudan, who is working in Abu Dhabi, said: “It is overwhelming to be a winner, and I’m very thankful to du for this opportunity. I am new to the UAE and it makes me feel proud that I know so much about the UAE in such a short time.”

 

The competition tested du customers’ knowledge of Ramadan, the Arabic language and UAE culture. Contestants could win weekly prizes as well as the grand prize, in addition to free credits for every correct answer. For every ten questions played, du customers received a bonus of 10 fils.
