Dubai, UAE: For the 5th consecutive year, du is supporting Fujairah Police’s community-boosting Ajyal Al Shurta programme. Organised by the Directorate General of Fujairah Police and held from 3-28 August 2014, Ajyal Al Shurta engages 185 students, aged 12-15, from Al Fujairah Educational Zone and encourages them to be productive and creative throughout the summer holidays.
Ajyal Al Shurta is an annual initiative started in 2003, under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah. The programme has had a positive influence on the educational and professional choices of more than 2000 young Emiratis, who have participated over the years.
du’s continued support of the programme is in line with the company’s commitment to developing the community, particularly with a focus on nurturing the health, fitness and well-being of UAE residents – especially youth. This corresponds with the values and intentions of du’s Every Step Counts national wellness initiative.
Hala Badri, Executive Vice President, Brand and Communications, du, said: “We are committed to supporting Fujairah Police’s Ajyal Al Shurta initiative, because of its positive impact on young Emiratis. It allows Emirati youth to use their free time in a productive manner, and provides them with an insight into careers in the police force. The programme allows them to contribute to the national well-being, providing them with life skills that will allow them to make positive contributions to the future of the nation. Our sponsorship of this programme is in line with our belief that it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure the mental and physical welfare of our community, and we hope to promote this notion to the nation through our Every Step Counts national well-being initiative.”
